This is one of the pictures I drew for a petstore project I started with a friend on Gaia Online. The idea was quite common, sell evolvable pets. I designed different eggs, which would evolve into a youth, and then an adult. The young version of this pet is the next pic. The buyer of the egg would have to be patient and take care of the egg in order to make it hatch. Once the egg had hatched, they would be able to roleplay with their pet, and have it interact with other pets around GAO. The level of interaction of the pet would have it gain experience, and with time, it would evolve again, into an adult. This adult would still be roleplayable. Eventually, there would have been a community of our pets. We planned of making the adults able to match and reproduce, and the baby would inherit a bit of both parents' characteristics, making a new, better pet. The pets would come with a "data card" that users must display in their signature, which would include their pedigree. Also, each pet came in 3 different clours and in a male and female version. Unfortunately, we didn't even open shop. I left Gaia Online for a while, and then dropped the project because I did't have enough time to spend on it. I had sketches at different levels of completion for a variety of pets, some only in one gender, some already having two genders designed. But for each pet we would have sold, I had to have the egg, the youth and the adult, both male and female, done. That's 6 pics per kind. And I had to make their data card, and that's where my partner came in. She was supposed to make up characteristics for each pet, and I would design the card. This was never done. I might go back regularly to GAO someday, and start the project over, so don't steal the pics! February 2005 ![]()
